LA Galaxy Re-Sign Defender Eriq Zavaleta

The LA Galaxy announced on Tuesday that the club has re-signed 30 year-old defender Eriq Zavaleta.
The Salvadorian international player returns on a two-year contract through the end of the 2024 MLS season.
Zavaleta was out of contract after making six appearances (5 starts) across all competitions in his first season with the Galaxy in 2022.
Throughout his 10 MLS seasons, the veteran center back has logged two goals and one assist in a combined 144 career regular-season appearances.
Those appearances include stints with the Seattle Sounders (2013), Chivas USA (2014), and most notably, Toronto FC (2015-21).
Zavaleta spent seven seasons with Toronto and played a role in their 2017 treble-winning under Galaxy Head Coach Greg Vanney.
At the international level, Zavaleta has tallied two goals in 19 games played (18 starts) for the El Salvador since debuting in 2021.
The LA Galaxy open their 2023 MLS season with another installment of El Trafico, as they face defending champions LAFC at the Rose Bowl on Feb 25.
