Romain Alessandrini had not found the back of the net in ten matches. You could see the frustration on his face each time a shot went wide of the goal.
On Friday night against San Jose, however, some of that tension gave way.
With the match dying down, Alessandrini took matters into his own hand. Emmanuel Boateng was speeding through the middle of the defense. He slipped, allowing the Frenchman to continue the run. Alessandrini then let out a screaming shot with his left foot that blazed into the bottom left corner of the goal.
Romain Alessandrini Frustrations
That frustration did seem to simmer down a bit following the Galaxy’s second consecutive 1-0 victory,
Alessandrini spoke about those frustrations after the match.
“… I try a lot and I didn’t succeed (at) everything so I was frustrated and the team was frustrated too but we worked hard.
We talked to each other and now we have to take it game by game to come back at the top.”
On Lack of Goals this Season
Is there a reason why Alessandrini hasn’t been scoring this season? It could be because of the way the Galaxy play. The former Marseille man is not the focal point this campaign like he was last year.
“I think that’s why I was a little frustrated,” Alessandrini said. “Because last year I think I touched the ball more. And this year I try to be more focused when I get the ball because I don’t get enough ball but when I get the ball I try to be the guy.”
The big key will be to keep this momentum going. Ola Kamara scored four goals in four matches and he was a big part in the win against Montreal. Will Romain Alessandrini be able get a scoring streak of his own going?
FC Dallas will provide a big test Wednesday. Dallas has the second best defense in all of Major League Soccer, having allowed just 11 goals in 11 matches. If Alessandrini can find a way through that back line and find his scoring touch again, who knows how less frustration there will be.
