After rumors circulated earlier in the week, the Vancouver Whitecaps officially announced former LAFC assistant coach Marc Dos Santos as manager.
A native of Montreal, Canada, Dos Santos helped guide LAFC to 57 points, an MLS record for an expansion side, this past season.
This will not be Dos Santos’ first coaching gig. The 41-year-old has managed clubs at all levels of soccer, including the Montreal Impact between 2009 and 2011.
“(Culture), that’s the first thing I want to create here, and that type of culture is in the day to day” Dos Santos told media.
The newly minted manager will have a tough task ahead. He will have to hire assistants to aid him and evaluate the current Vancouver Whitecaps roster.
“One thing I can guarantee is the players that are going to be in this club are players that care for this club,” Dos Santos added. “And players that want to fight for this club.”
