The Los Angeles Sparks have released guard Cappie Pondexter, the team announced Thursday in a statement.
“We want to thank Cappie for her time here in Los Angeles and we wish her nothing but the best moving forward,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager Penny Toler.
The 35-year-old guard appeared in 13 games with the Sparks this season and averaged 3.6 points per game in 10.3 minutes per game.
Pondexter won two WNBA championships in Phoenix. She has also played for New York and Chicago during her career and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2006 draft.
Upon release, Pondexter is eligible to sign with any team.
The Sparks face the Seattle Storm tonight at 6:30 p.m. PT on ESPN2.
