Egyptian international Omar Gaber was transferred to Pyramids FC after LAFC took his contract option from FC Basel.
Omar Gaber Going Home
“Omar is a great person and player,” John Thorrington, the EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager said.
This move comes after the 26-year-old joined the new MLS side in January on one-year loan deal from Basel. During his short stint, Gaber made only two starts in seven total appearances.
Losing a player of Gaber’s quality will be tough for Bob Bradley and his coaching staff. The defender brought European and international experience to a developing squad that was vital.
In those seven matches played, Gaber only had an average rating of 6.35, according to whoscored.com. The also Egyptian averaged about 82% success on his passes.
However, LAFC still has a plethora of talent on that side of the defense with Steven Beitashour. They also have an up and coming right back in Tristan Blackmon.
“He made us aware of a family matter in Egypt and we were able to accommodate his move with a deal that makes sense financially for the club,” Thorrington said.
