The LA Galaxy announced Monday morning that the club has exercised 2019 contract options on four players from the team’s 2018 roster.
Today is the Option Exercise Deadline, where teams no longer competing in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs must notify the League Office in writing of the players whose options they are exercising.
Galaxy’s player options
Defender Daniel Steres, midfielder Sebastian Lletget, midfielder Bradford Jamieson IV and goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg all had their player options picked up for the 2019 MLS season.
In addition, the team announced they have declined the options of the following players: defender Michael Ciani, goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre, forward Ariel Lassiter, defender Sheanon Williams, defender Ashley Cole, defender Rolf Feltscher, midfield Baggio Husidic, and midfield Servando Carrasco.
Three players from the 2018 roster are also out of contract, but are likely to re-sign with new contract negotiations going into the 2019 MLS season. This list includes midfielder Chris Pontius, defender Dave Romney, and midfielder Emmanuel Boateng.
As of now, the Galaxy roster stands at 16 players, which consists of all three Designated Players – Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos, Romain Alessandrini – and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
