LA Clippers Waive Desi Rodriguez

Los Angeles, CA – The LA Clippers announced today that they have waived forward Desi Rodriguez. This marked the team’s first move towards cutting their roster to a needed 15 man squad.

Rodriguez, 22, appeared in only two pre-season games for the Clippers. During those games, he got one assist and one steal.

After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, the 6’6″ wing signed with the Clippers and made his NBA debut during the 2018 Las Vegas NBA Summer League. He appeared in six games and averaged 7.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists while playing an average of 21.6 per game.

Rodriguez then signed a training camp contract with the team on September 24.

Desi Rodriguez Pre-NBA Days

Prior to his NBA debut, Rodriguez played a total of four seasons at Seton Hall University where he appeared in 129 games.

At SHU, he averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest during his collegiate career and earned second Team All-Big East honors as a senior.

More roster moves to come

The move is just one of several that are needed to be made as the deadline for NBA rosters fast approaches.

By 2 p.m. PT on Monday, October 15th, all 30 NBA teams are expected to submit their finalized 15-man roster ahead of the 2018-19 NBA season.

Their roster currently stand at 17 players. That number does not include two-way players, since they do not count as a filled roster spot.

Season Opener

The Clippers open the season on October 17 against the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center.
