The US Open Cup lets younger players shine for MLS clubs. They did that tonight for the Galaxy on this occasion. In fact, multiple LA Galaxy II regulars got the nod on Wednesday night. These young G’s included Ethan Zubak, Julian Büscher, John Requejo, and Justin Vom Steeg. The youngsters showed well and will hopefully lead to more playing time with the first team in the near future.
Jamieson Opens the Scoring
There was one way traffic during the first half of the match. LA picked apart the USL PDL club fairly early in this one. Bradford Jamieson IV zigzagged his way through the FC Golden State Force in the 15th minute. Jamieson IV then picked out the bottom right corner and curled past the goalkeeper.
Emmanuel Boateng, one of the few first team regulars, nearly made it two-nil seven minutes later. He made a nice run to get onto a ball hit over the top. Then the young striker, Ethan Zubak, flashed an attempt across the frame of the goal. Zubak had another opportunity find the net, but this time, shot bent just wide after being played in behind.
Ariel Lassiter Puts on a Show
There was a finally a second goal in the 37th and it was an absolute stunner. Julian Buscher floated a ball towards the back post. Ariel Lassiter gauged it before volleying home his shot with precision.
